2nd January 2003

Happy New Year! Or I think so, had a bit of a tummy bug so far this year brought on no doubt by the copious amounts of alcohol drunk on New Years Eve, although I’ve never felt this bad after a drinking session before so I am going to blame something else to make me feel better.

It has been a while since I last wrote a journal entry. I’m not entirely sure why this has been. Over the last few days the server in which this information has been stored on has died and a replacement being loaded up slowly. I still don’t know when or even if you’ll be able to see this. Otherwise I’ve either been lazy or busy I guess.

In reverse order here is what I have been up to. New Years Eve evening I spent mainly at Life Bar in Romford. That was only my second visit to Life Bar. The only previous visit had been on the previous New Years Eve. It really doesn’t seem that long ago to be honest. It was a good night and quite a boozy one.

Monday and Tuesday this week were pretty quiet work wise. The sum total of the days work was something like four phone calls, tape swapping, clearing some space on a hard drive and using the internet for personal use. Mainly entering dozens of competitions, which is sure to increase my levels of junk mail if nothing else.

On Sunday I went into London and saw Bloodwork, a film directed, produced and starring Clint Eastwood. It wasn’t at all bad. I saw it with my friend Rob at Leicester Square, where I also spent far too much money in the sales. Then in the evening we went to Brentwood and participated in the Essex Arms quiz.

Saturday was a quiet affair. I spent my Christmas money on a travel ticket for January and spent plenty of time wandering around Romford looking for bargains in the sale and finding very few. I bought The Others, Americas Sweethearts and the Nightmare on Elm Street box set.

Friday was the 27th and work was nice enough to give me the day off. So I went to the Star Trek exhibition in Hyde Park in London. It was quite impressive, however I thought that the merchandising would have been a lot better than it actually was. Just think how much Star Trek merchandise there is in the world, and all I saw was tacky hats, mugs and t-shirts made specially for the event. So I headed up along Oxford Street to Borders to maybe buy myself something from there, but their Star Trek section has dwindled significantly since Erin was here. So I went home pretty empty handed. Probably just as well to be honest.

Boxing day was fairly quiet, I went round to Nans in the evening.

Christmas day itself was a pretty quiet day also, getting up late in the day, opening presents and popping round to Dels families house in the evening.

Christmas Eve was a pretty lonely day. At work alone until late. There was a bright spot in the evening however when I got to talk to Erin for ages.

The weekend before that seems like a lifetime ago now. I know we went to the quiz on Sunday and I know that we did very badly as a team. Christmas not being our strong point evidently. However I got some wagon wheels as every team got a prize and no one else wanted them.

And that’s as far back as I remember.
