July 2004

July 2004 seemed to be over in the blink of an eye, it really doesn't seem more than five minutes ago I was coming back from the Bryan Adams concert at the end of June.

We acquired some new furniture in the guise of a table, some chairs and a bookcase, most of which Kat built without any of my help.

I've been working hard and Kat started her new position at the same company she was at before.  I still don't know exactly where my career life is going.  i got rejected from an IT job in Solihull, something I wasn't overly disappointed about to be honest and it seems there have been a distinct lack of techy jobs available in the Birmingham region, ones that are advertised anyway.  The thing is I am enjoying working for Legal & General at the moment and I am hoping they will offer me a decent wage and make me permanent in the near future.  I know the wage isn't going to be great but it is very flexible and has various benefits.

We saw Shrek 2 in July and enjoyed it, we had also made vague plans of seeing other films like Spiderman 2 and Garfield but we haven't seen them yet.

I vaguely remember where a lot of July went now... Rollercoaster Tycoon.  Kat and I played the original game and completed all the scenarios and made a rather nice mega park at the end.  We've now got Added attractions to work but Loopy Landscape absolutely refuses to play ball with us, its a Windows XP thing you see and we have XP on all our machines here.  I also started a virtual tour of the UKs theme parks.  Something that has been keeping me busy, the documented tour is over 16,000 words now and set to expand!

My parents came down to visit the last weekend in July and they had a great time, we explored a little of Birmingham and saw a good open air exhibition of art entitled Earth from the sky.  At first I though it was going to be dull but I got really interested quickly and so did everyone else.  We looked at the canals and went for a nice Chinese and had a few drinks.  I think my parents liked their weekend as they are already talking about visiting us again!

August is the birthday month.  We should have a few visitors I believe.  And its now less than 4 months until we go to Florida.  Virgin have been a bit of a nightmare this booking.  At the moment they owe me £100 and don't really want to seem to want to give it to me despite promising they would...
