July 2005

As usual I am writing this journal entry much later than I should have done, I hope my notes and my memory are up to scratch!  The main thing I remember about July is the cinema.  Kat and I signed up to the UGC cinema card and saw eight films with it in our first month, plus Madagascar which was the when I finally decided to get the card, which I have been thinking about for ages.  I have now seen more films in a month than I saw all of last year I think.

The news kind of dominated a lot of life during the month.  On the 6th we found out that London had won the 2012 Olympics, for better or worse.  Then there were the bombings of tube trains and buses in London, the first deadly, the next set didn't go off thankfully.  But we were continually tuning into the news to hear about the investigation and for more news on what was happening.

The start of July was very warm again, uncomfortably so.  For the first time ever I think I volunteered myself for work on a Saturday (rather than being told I was going to do it for the love of the company I was with at the time) It earned me a few pennies anyway, I should hopefully see them at the end of August, the whole getting paid structure sucks really.  the afternoon of Saturday working I bought Simpsons Treehouse of Terror Monopoly and wandered around town for a while (I have been amassing a few Monopolies recently.  I think as I speak now after my birthday I have around 18 boards) Then after we came home we learnt the whole of Birmingham was shut down due to a security warning.  Those were nervous times.

There was a tornado in Birmingham during the month.  The sky at work got as dark as night but I didn't see much, where Kat works the windows and doors leaked.  Kat says she has never seen rain like it ever.  The tornado did a lot of damage, thankfully not that close to us, but it hit the end of the road where a few people I work with live.

Went to Boston for the final weekend of the month. Had quite a lot of fun and saw various family members and shopped and caught up with baby Ryan and his mum.  Apart from playing train simulator I'm ashamed to admit I don't really much about the weekend.

So that was July, strange things in the news, watching films at the cinemas, going to Boston and rediscovering Ringos :)
