June 2005

Been a bit slow getting this journal entry made - naughty me.

The first complete week of June Kat and I took off work and had a few day trips and generally forgot about work.  We didn't do a great deal on the weekend, nor the Monday.  We had an early radio show on the Monday, with a fairly young audience.  The Charmed box set had arrived on the Monday so we started to watch that set, and plenty of episodes were watched!

On the Tuesday Kat and I went to Drayton Manor and had the park largely to ourselves, to the extent that we wondered if anyone else was in it for a while!  It was a boiling hot day which was just as well as we got soaked and drenched and then some on the Stormforce 10 ride there.  We went on Shockwave the big stand up rollercoaster there.  We managed to go on everything we wanted to go on and there was virtually no queue for anything, which is the way I like theme parks!  Also took a little trip into the zoo there and saw some lovely animals, always pulls on my heart strings to see animals in captivity though.  I thought that day would be the hottest day of the year - I was wrong...

Wednesday we stayed in and waited for our new mattress to arrive, our old one was pretty beaten up.  We got a new one more based on a what was available quickly method of choosing rather than sticking to our guns about wanting a hard mattress, which maybe we should have done.  The new one is better than the old one, but I'm still not quite used to a mattress that gives so much.  We then went to see Episode III of Star Wars at the end of the day.

Thursday we went to Cardiff and nearly didn't make it.  There was a lack of buses and when one arrived it made it about 20 metres down the road before being blocked by a small bus and a car driver both refusing to give way.  As time was critical at this point Kat called a cab and we only just made our train at New Street.  Kat also called the police to tell them about the incident.  i would have loved to stay to see what happened, but we didn't have the time unfortunately.  Had a nice day in Cardiff.  Enjoyed the Hard Rock Cafe and went for a walk around the city.  Saw the Millennium stadium, the castle, the council offices, which were in a nice pretty garden which we laid out in.  Also managed to fit in a little shopping and were given a free bottle of Tango each, which was nice.

Friday was another radio show day and we didn't do much in the weekend that I recall.

The next week went really slowly and I was glad to make it to the weekend.  I can't remember if it was this weekend or the weekend after (the latter I think) when Chris and Sheri came to visit.  they stayed in the city this time, which was a shame in my opinion as I liked them staying closer.  It was another blisteringly hot day.  They came here, we watched Creep on the TV/DVD and chatted and shopped and stuff.  On the Sunday we wandered around the Nostalgia and Comics shop - big mistake they sell Monopoly boards there that are hard to find! And I had my first fish finger sandwich in an Oniels just a stones-throw from my office but which I hadn't known existed until we saw it.

We went and bought a few things around pay day (including a new Monopoly set for me) did a few extra radio shows and not a lot else.

Just at the end of the month Kat, Chris and Sheri and I all went to Alton Towers.  It was really hot again and the park was packed despite it being a Monday in school time.  We had a good time but I didn't get on all the rides I wanted to (missed out on Rita and Air!)  well we'll just have to go back some other time I guess, sometime like October when the weather and queues are more bearable.  That said we all had a good day.

So all in all June was a good month.
