October 2003

Time continues to tick on.  It barely seems like five minutes ago i was writing an entry for September.  Christmas creeps ever closer and i am going to seriously have to consider buying presents for people soon.  I've been picking my own presents for weeks, Simpsons, Futurama, Star Trek and so on on DVD, Advance Wars 2 on the GBA etc.  I'm great at picking presents for me, I just wish everyone else was!

Talking of Christmas, I'm going away for Christmas.  This will be my first time away from home at Christmas I think.  It also means I get to say goodbye to 2003 an hour faster than I would have done otherwise, as I'll still be away for new year.  I'm off to somewhere in Denmark with Kat.  If all goes well we'll get to spend the night before in the Stansted Hilton Hotel.  I've always wanted to stay at a Hilton Hotel, this one isn't THE Hilton, but its a start :)

It's fireworks season and as I tap away at the keyboard I have headphones in my ears but I can still hear bangs quite often over the top of what I am listening to.  I'm sure it will be going on for at least a week yet.  The quality of fireworks I'm seeing and hearing is much better than what I am used to.  It seems like boring fireworks got banned or are too quiet to hear.  England has gone very Halloween this year also.  I have seen a number of places decorate for it.  Including for the first time ever private homes put decorations and lights in the windows.  Nasty American tradition :)

I spent a pleasurable Saturday night in Colchester with Paul and Tim.  We went to Act One, somewhere I hadn't been before, then paid two pounds to get a bus to the university and 1.50 to get into the newly "improved" Level 2 (it sucks) to have one more beer before heading out again, back "home".

Other than that not much to report to be honest.  Just work, work, work and a little fun inbetween.
