September 2005

September came and went pretty quickly.  It seemed to be August for quite a while but September.  looking back at my notes for the month, there seems to be very few entries.  At the start of the month Hurricane Katrina had just damaged Mississippi and Louisiana, seems Hurricane Andrew and Katrina will be the two costliest hurricanes on record.  Rather odd they share Kat and my names.

At the start of the month we did the usual, go for Chinese meals, do radio shows, go to the cinema (got to get our moneys worth from the card!).  Someone was hurt quite badly outside my office in the first week of the month.  The road was closed off for 4 or so hours afterwards and "Did you see?" Accident notices were soon up outside afterwards.

Jeremy, aka Raindog came to stay over during the second weekend of the month.  He'd been enjoying good weather on his stay here, except on the Saturday when we were going to show him Birmingham.  It chucked it down then.  But we had fun, we went to the Hard Rock Cafe, saw some arts thing the council put on and walked around the canals, something I haven't done before.  I've seen them but never walked round them.  it was fun, I'll have to go for a longer explore sometime.  I also went to Chiquittos and Frankie and Bennys for the first time and ate well in both.  We also saw The Longest Yard that weekend.  A very funny film.  We all had a good weekend I think

A rather uneventful week later and Sheri and Chris came to visit.  On Saturday we wandered around town and went to see The Aristocrats, a very strange film (see film page) mainly because it was the only film on any time soon.  We then dropped into the Hard Rock Cafe again and found a seat very quickly with the aid of the All Access card, a very useful card it is when you are hungry!  On the Sunday they both came here and we did a radio show together and had Sunday lunch.  Chris and Sheri set off for home just before 7pm I think and didn't get there until 4:40am i think.  They were turfed off their train due to an incident involving armed police a few stations ahead and by the time they got to Euston they'd missed all their onward connections and had to wait (a long time) for a taxi.  Sounds like a nightmare.

Another uneventful work week but it lead into a five day weekend for us which was very nice.  Just what we needed to recharge our batteries.  Plenty of shopping was done on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Then an early night as we got up at 4am to fly to Edinburgh for the day.  It was a really nice day trip.  The flight was good, we got to see the city and go to the Hard Rock Cafe and then to the zoo.  We got rained on a little in the afternoon but all in all it was the best weather on a trip North of the border for either of us!  We were knackered when we got home but we agreed it was a great day out and something we may do again to other cities.  We then had all Wednesday to relax which was great!

Things were going good until the last day of the month when Kat was threatened with redundancy.  Man what a sucky way to end the month.
